‘PIMPED OUT BY BOSS’ Married banker, 36, ‘pimped out’ to wealthy Arab client in bid to land £25m account and ‘threatened with the sack if she didn’t go for dinner date’

The woman claimed the client bombarded her with love songs and inappropriate text messages

A MARRIED senior banker was “pimped out” by her boss in a bid to get a wealthy Arab client to open an account with £25 million, a tribunal was told.

Suemaya Gerrard, 36, a relationship manager at the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, claimed the client bombarded her with love songs and inappropriate text messages.

But her boss, chief administrative officer Jawdat Jawdat put pressure on her to go out to dinner with the man and she was threatened with the sack if she did not go, the hearing was told.

She confided in a colleague, who told her “he is acting like your pimp”, it is claimed.

After a failed attempt to lodge a grievance against her boss, she eventually resigned from the bank last November, and is suing them for sexual discrimination, sexual harassment and constructive dismissal.

Mrs Gerrard is seeking £80,000 from the bank, whose offices are based at the Candy brothers’ One Hyde Park in Knightsbridge, west London.

In her witness statement, she said: “This gentleman made it clear that he was attracted to me.

“‘Client A’ made use of my telephone to send me love songs and use terms of endearment that I found inappropriate.”

She said she told her line manager, Kassel Jarrah, Mr Jawdat and other senior staff about the client’s behaviour.

Mrs Gerrard continued: “Although I was not completely happy with the situation, I believed that if I maintained a professional attitude and refused to countenance any crossing of the line in respect of ‘Client A’s’ behaviour, I would be able to continue as the relationship manager.”

However she said matters came to a head on May 17 last year, when she was told by Mr Jawdat to invite the client to an England international match at Wembley Stadium.

She said: “To my mind the sub-text was quite clear. Mr Jawdat was aware of ‘Client A’s’ partiality for me and wished to use that to further the business connection.

“‘Client A’ was not immediately available, but he rang me later and said that he was not interested in football but was interested still in taking me out to dinner.

“There was no business reason for such a dinner that was to be held late in the evening.

“I declined the offer politely but ‘Client A’ kept on insisting to invite me out for dinner.”

Mrs Gerrard suggested to the client going for lunch with her and Mr Jawdat, but he did not like the idea and said “I want to drop you home and have a present I want to give you”, it is claimed.

She said: “When I reported the conversation to Mr Jawdat he seemed annoyed.

“He told me that I had to accept the dinner invitation and not lunch and he also threatened me by saying ‘if you cancel or call off sick I will sack you’.

“I replied that he knew that I was a married woman with children and that I could not do it. Mr Jawdat then stated I was in the wrong profession.

“I informed my work colleague Mrs Shukri Hassan upon leaving the meeting of what had happened and how Mr Jawdat behaved.

“Mrs Shukri Hassan stated ‘he is acting like your pimp’.”

The customer arrived at the bank later that day for a coffee, and grasped and squeezed her hand, Mrs Gerrard said.

But rather than support her, Mr Jawdat went for a cigarette with the client’s colleague, leaving her alone with him as he mentioned dinner again, it is claimed.

After telling her husband about it, she contacted her union representative, Geoff Saunders, who advised her to raise a formal grievance against Mr Jawdat.

Central London Employment Tribunal heard the client wrote “your wish is my command”, and she replied with a smiley face – but she said she was just being “polite”.

The client also texted her saying “hello my rosy flower”, it was said.

After he visited on May 17, she texted the customer saying “I was happy for your visit, you lit us up”.

But Mrs Gerrard said: “This is a very professional way of thanking somebody for coming to visit you.

“That is basic manners in Arabic.”

She added: “Some of the text messages I deleted because my husband saw them, and said ‘what is this’.

“And therefore I deleted some of the love songs. Because it was my marriage on the line.

“He was up at 3 o’clock in the morning and he saw flowers and love songs. It caused a huge row.”

The bank and Mr Jawdat deny all the allegations.

Talia Barsam, representing the bank, claimed that Mrs Gerrard had threatened to go the press if she didn’t receive a pay off.

Mr Jawdat claimed that it was normal practice to entertain clients.

He said: “Regardless of gender, regardless of customer, we always interact with customers and we always dine with customer. That it, that’s exactly what happened that day.”

The hearing continues.

hadees: DONT EXPOSE YOUR PRIVATE PARTS

DONT EXPOSE YOUR PRIVATE PARTS

Muhammad says that a man should not see the private part of another man, nor should men lie together under one covering (667).  In this connection, he also tells us that the Jews used to take their baths naked and looked at each others private parts, but Moses took his bath alone.  Instead of feeling ashamed for not following their leaders example the Jews taunted him.  They said he refrained from exposing his private parts because he suffered from scrotal hernia.  But God vindicated him.  Once, while taking his bath, Moses put his clothes on a rock, but the rock moved away.  Moses ran after it crying: O stone, my clothes; O stone, my clothes. The Jews then had a chance to see Moses private parts, and said: By Allah, Moses does not suffer from any ailment (669).

Accompanied by Hindu Mahasabha activists and her sister, Amreen told reporters and the zonal inspector general that her husband Sabir used to torture her for dowry.

A Muslim woman in Meerut announced separation from her “abusive” husband using triple talaq, a provision reserved for men of the community to divorce their wives.

Accompanied by Hindu Mahasabha activists and her sister, Amreen made the announcement in front of mediapersons at the office of inspector general (IG), Meerut zone, Ajay Anand on Wednesday.

Among certain controversial religious practices among Muslims, triple talaq—a provision by which a Muslim man can divorce his wife by pronouncing the word talaq thrice—has been opposed by the BJP-led Centre, terming the practice unequal and discriminatory against women, and impacting their dignity and right to life, provided in the Constitution.

However, the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has criticised the move, saying the BJP was trying to impose a uniform civil code in the country, to which Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged Muslims not to view the issue through a “political lens”.

A five-judge constitution bench of the Supreme Court will commence hearing from May 11 to decide on the constitutional validity of the practices of ‘triple talaq’, ‘nikah halala’ and polygamy among Muslims.

Amreen, daughter of Nizamuddin of Narheda village in Uttar Pradesh’s Kharkhauda, had married Sabir of Ladpura village on March 28, 2012. On the same day, her sister Farheen had married Sabir’s brother, Shakir.

Both the sisters claimed their husbands used to torture them for dowry. Farheen said she had gotten divorced in September last year. After that, Amreen said her husband started torturing her too.

“One day, they tried to burn me by throwing kerosene oil on me. I was saved by the neighbours,” she claimed.

She approached police but got no help. Left with no choice, she came to IG office with Hindu Mahasabha activists on Wednesday.

The IG, Ajay Anand gave them a patient hearing and assured help, but they were not satisfied and declared that they would meet chief minister Yogi Adityanath and share their grief with him.

Amreen has also filed a case of dowry harassment against Sabir.

HADEES:BODILY FUNCTIONS

BODILY FUNCTIONS

Now Muhammad takes us to the toilet.  He forbids his followers to face the qibla [i.e., toward the mosque at Mecca] at the time of excretion or urination, or cleansing with right hand or with less than three pebbles (504).

Cleansing after excretion must be done an odd number of times (460), and one must not use dung or bone (505) for this purpose.  There is a story explaining why the use of bones and dung is forbidden.  Muhammad once spent a night with jinns (genii) reciting the QurAn to them.  When they asked him about their provision of food, he told them: Every bone on which the name of Allah is recited is your provision.  The time it will fall in your hand it would be covered with flesh, and the dung of the camels is fodder for your animals. He therefore told his followers: Dont perform istinjAwith these things for these are the food of your brothers (903).

He also tells his followers: When anyone amongst you enters the privy, he must not touch the penis with his right hand (512).

Aisha tells us that the Messenger of Allah loved to start from the right-hand side in his every act, i.e., in wearing shoes, in combing, and in performing ablution (515).

Pak hospital forces non-Muslim staffers to recite Quran verses

Pak hospital forces non-Muslim staffers to recite Quran verses

The staffers have to either recite verses from the Holy Quran or be marked absent for the day…

The administration of a government- run hospital here forces its non-Muslim staffers to either recite verses from the Holy Quran at morning assembly or be marked absent for the day, a Pakistan media report said today.

The issue came to light when Mian Mir Hospital, run by the City District Government Lahore, Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Sarfraz allegedly slapped a Christian paramedical staffer for not attending the assembly, the Express Tribune reported.

Following the incident, all paramedical staff protested against the superintendent and other hospital administration by shutting down all functions of the medical facility.

“This act of the MS is a violation of the Constitution of Pakistan,” a Christian paramedical staffer, Marshal, was quoted as saying by the paper.

He asked religious scholars to sort out the issue as the hospital administration was pressurising them to leave their jobs.

“It is professional workplace; I don’t know why the administration is forcing our Christian brothers to do this.

This is totally unacceptable,” said another staff Fahad Ahmed.

Meanwhile, City District Government Lahore Health CEO Dr Muhammad Saeed said a high-level committee had been formed to look into the matter and a strict departmental inquiry would be initiated against anyone found guilty.

The hospital was named after Sufi saint Hazrat Mian Mir who rose to prominence during the time of Mughal emperor Jehangir. The saint himself was a big proponent of interfaith harmony.

hdees: THE FIVE ACTS (Fitra)

THE FIVE ACTS (Fitra)

There are nine ahAdIs (495-503) on five acts natural to man and proper to Islam: circumcision, shaving the pubes, cutting the nails, plucking the hair under the armpits, and clipping the moustache.

About the moustache and the beard, the Prophet said: Act against the polytheists, trim closely the moustache and grow beard (500).  The next hadIs substitutes the word fire-worshippers for polytheists. The translator provides the rationale for this injunction: Islam created a new brotherhood on the basis of belief and good conduct. . . . For the identification of faces, the Muslims have been ordered to trim the moustache and wear the beard, so that they may be distinguished from the non-Muslims who grow a moustache and shave beard (note 471).

Sonu Nigam controversy: HC says Azaan an integral part of Islam, not loudspeakers

New Delhi: Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam found himself in the mid of a huge controversy after his series of tweets on ‘Azaan’ sparked a new debate with dividing views across the social media. Now, according to HindustanTimes.com, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has said that Azaan is undoubtedly an integral part of Islam but it does not necessarily have to be blared through loudspeakers.

HC’s order is definitely a backing for the singer as it clearly states that loudspeakers are not mandatory. The report mentions that the plea was filed against the singer by Aas Mohammad, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, over Sonu Nigam’s controversial tweets.

Justice Bedi has been quoted as saying: “A fair interpretation of the words used by respondent no 4 (Nigam) clearly indicates that the word ‘gundagardi’ in tweet no 4 is not addressed in the context of Azaan but the use of loudspeakers and amplifiers.”
