New Delhi: Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam found himself in the mid of a huge controversy after his series of tweets on ‘Azaan’ sparked a new debate with dividing views across the social media. Now, according to HindustanTimes.com, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has said that Azaan is undoubtedly an integral part of Islam but it does not necessarily have to be blared through loudspeakers.

HC’s order is definitely a backing for the singer as it clearly states that loudspeakers are not mandatory. The report mentions that the plea was filed against the singer by Aas Mohammad, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana, over Sonu Nigam’s controversial tweets.

Justice Bedi has been quoted as saying: “A fair interpretation of the words used by respondent no 4 (Nigam) clearly indicates that the word ‘gundagardi’ in tweet no 4 is not addressed in the context of Azaan but the use of loudspeakers and amplifiers.”

  1. Atleast the Azaan thru loud speakers should b e banned in Punjab and Haryana. Will BJP respect the court judgement and act accordingly in Haryana where it is in Power?
